The final match of the women's épée team event between Vietnamese athletes including Nguyen Phuong Kim, Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh, Pham Huyen Trang, Vu Thi Hong (Vietnam women's team 1) and their opponents from the Philippines was full of drama. The Vietnamese female fencers demonstrated their courage and composure in the competition, winning the gold medal with a close score of 45 - 43. This is also the 5th gold medal of Vietnamese Fencing at the tournament.

Previously, the Vietnamese athletes won 4 gold medals in the events: men's individual sabre (Nguyen Xuan Loi), women's épée (Nguyen Phuong Kim), men's team épée (Nguyen Minh Hieu, Nguyen Phuoc Den, Nguyen Tien Nhat, Tran Hoang Gia) and women's team sabre (Le Thi Minh Hang, Ngo Thi Huong, Pham Thi Thu Hoai, Phung Khanh Linh).
Meanwhile, in the men's team foil final, Vietnam team 1 with fencers Cao Minh Duyet, Nguyen Minh Quang, Nguyen Truong Giang, Nguyen Van Hai competed very hard but could not overcome their opponents from the Philippines with a score of 40 - 41, thereby receiving a silver medal.
In the last event of the day - men's team sabre, despite expectations, the Vietnamese athletes could not make it to the final. Vu Thanh An, Nguyen Xuan Loi, Nguyen Van Quyet, Le Van Bang finished the semi-final with a bronze medal.
Thus, closing the tournament, the Vietnamese fencing team with 31 athletes, competing in 3 events of foil, 3 events of épée, and 3 events of sabre (men and women), won a total of 5 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 10 bronze medals.
The 2024 Southeast Asian Fencing Championship will feature many famous athletes from Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc. This is an important professional competition for the Vietnamese fencing team and teams in the region. The tournament is also an opportunity for Vietnamese fencing and each athlete to gain more regional opponents to aim for the opportunity to compete for the 33rd SEA Games-2025.
