In the opening match, Bui Ngoc Nhi suffered a 0-5 defeat against the host nation's karateka, Ono Maho of Japan, thereby dropping to the repechage bracket. Here, the Vietnamese female martial artist competed with sharp focus, defeating South Korea's Choi Haeun with a score of 5-0.
In the bronze medal match, Bui Ngoc Nhi faced Leong Wai Yee Shannon of Singapore. Delivering a performance that earned a total score of 4, the Vietnamese athlete surpassed her opponent, who scored only 1 point, to win 4-1 and claim the bronze medal.
This marked the second medal for the Vietnam Sports Delegation on the morning of September 20, following the bronze medal won by Nguyen Hoang Minh Tan and Trinh Gia Nghi in the Teqball mixed doubles event.
At the 20th ASIAD, Bui Ngoc Nhi will also compete in the women's team Kata event.
