After receiving a bye in the first round, Chau Tuyet Van, Nguyen Thi Le Kim, and Lien Thi Tuyet Mai defeated the Mexican representatives in the second round to advance to the semifinals.

In the final, the Vietnamese trio maintained their consistent form, overcoming the German team to claim the gold medal in the women's team recognized poomsae U50 event. This result helped Chau Tuyet Van, Nguyen Thi Le Kim, and Lien Thi Tuyet Mai successfully defend the gold medal they won at the 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Hong Kong.
The gold medal in the women's team U50 event brought the Vietnamese Taekwondo Poomsae team's gold medal tally at this year's championship to two.
Earlier, the pair Nguyen Thien Phung and Nguyen Thi Le Kim had claimed gold in the mixed pair recognized poomsae U50 event, opening the Vietnamese team's medal count at the tournament.
As of the end of the competition day on September 19, the Vietnamese Taekwondo delegation had earned 2 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, with the 2 bronzes going to the men's team U50 and women's team U30 squads.
The 2026 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships will continue through September 20.
