The women’s U40 category featured 35 competitors. Entering the tournament as the No. 10 seed, Chau Tuyet Van defeated opponents from Greece, Portugal, Germany, and the United States to secure a spot in the final.
In the opening round, she defeated Elisavet Lazaridou of Greece. She then beat seventh-seeded Joana Lourenco of Portugal in the next round before besting Germany's Stephanie Elbers in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Chau Tuyet Van faced sixth-seeded Huynh Thanh Van, a Vietnamese-American athlete competing for Team USA. Emerging victorious, the Vietnamese representative earned her place in the gold medal match.
In the final, Chau Tuyet Van went up against Chang Ting-Jung of Chinese Taipei. Chang Ting-Jung claimed the gold medal, leaving Chau Tuyet Van with the silver. The two bronze medals went to Kong Lai Lee of Hong Kong (China) and Huynh Thanh Van of the United States.
After two days of competition, the Vietnam Taekwondo Poomsae team has secured one silver and two bronze medals. The two bronzes were won by the men's U50 team (Nguyen Thien Phung, Nguyen Van Truong, and Le Thanh Trung) and the women's U30 team (Nguyen Thi Kim Ha, Le Tran Kim Uyen, and Le Ngoc Han).
