Minister Nguyen Van Hung recognized the continuous efforts of VOC over the past six months.

“In response to the increasing demands for both high-performance and grassroots sports VOC has proactively coordinated closely with national sport federations and associations and agencies as well as localities across the country to implement many key tasks related to foreign affairs, professional training, and Olympic education through sports events,” he said

“These activities have helped improve the effectiveness of foreign affairs, marketing and sponsorship and strongly promoted the sport practice movement in all localities and sectors, contributing to lifting the quality of Viet Nam’s key sports.”

Minister Nguyen Van Hung expected that after this meeting Viet Nam’s Olympic movement and other sport activities would widely spread and reach further developments, meeting the demands of Vietnamese people and sport supporters.

Olympic highlights

In the meeting, VOC General Secretary Tran Van Manh briefed results of the committee’s works in the first six months of the year.

Accordingly, VOC strictly followed complied with the resolutions and regulations of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and Functional Board; promptly and effectively carried out assigned tasks including urgent tasks from the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Many activities and programs spreading Olympic education and sports ideology to the community were implemented widely and diversely through mass media.

VOC Executive Committee’s managers, employees and members proactively and effectively took part in all works, contributing to the overall success.

In the first six months of 2025, VOC actively promoted foreign affairs activities and welcomed many high-level international delegations, contributing to consolidating and expanding international cooperation relations.

Specifically, Minister Nguyen Van Hung received and worked with the Russian Minister of Culture and the Lao Ambassador to Viet Nam. He also participated in a red-carpet welcome ceremony for Spanish Prime Minister.

His meeting with international leaders through those receptions opened up many new cooperation opportunities for the sport industry.

VOC also sent Vietnamese delegations to compete in major sport events such as the ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China (February 7-14); Olympic Council of Asia’s (OCA) Seminar on AI Technology and E-Sports in Kuwait (February 21-23); OCA & OS Regional Forum 2025 in Thimphu, Bhutan (April 2-3); OCA Coordination Committee meeting in Nagoya, Japan; OCA General Assembly in Kuwait; third Asian Youth Games’ Chef-de-mission Meeting in Bahrain; SEAGF Coordination Meeting and SEAGF Council Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand.

Among these events, the OCA Seminar on AI Technology and E-Sports helped Vietnamese officials recognize new perspectives on the application of AI, Big Data, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology in training and event organization, promoting the development of traditional sports and E-Sports in Viet Nam.

Community sport lifted

VOC also paid much attention to develop the ‘Sports for all’ movement, organizing major events. The Olympic Run Day - For National Security 2025 in Ha Noi attracted nearly 2,000 police officers and soldiers. The Olympic Run Day for Public Health 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City featured more than 5,000 students, civil servants, the elderly, and soldiers of the armed forces.

The launching ceremony of Olympic Run Day for Public Health and the 50th Hanoimoi Newspaper Run for Peace 2025 in Ha Noi lured more than 4,000 participants.

The Children's Olympic Day in Dien Bien Province saw than 1,000 students participating in running activities, learning about the Olympic movement and competing in sports,

The common point of these above events was a large number of participants, demonstrating the strong response of the community, affirming the spread of the sport practice movement, and raising awareness of the role of sports for a healthy community and a strong country.

Good preparation for international events

The third Asian Youth Games in Bahrain on October 22-31 and the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand on December 9-20 are two of important tasks and tough challenges for Viet Nam in 2025.

VOC has proactively facilitated the Vietnamese sport delegation to attend the third Asian Youth Games by regularly updating information to SAV’s departments, sport federations and associations.

VOC staff has joined hands in many activities helping register numbers of participants and athlete cards; working with the main sponsor Dong Luc Joint Stock Company to prepare uniforms of the whole delegation.

Regarding the 33rd SEA Games, VOC has regularly updated the competition programs and other important information; and contacted the host country's Organizing Committee for registration, cards and flight plans.

Olympic education promotion

In the first half of 2025, VOC has strongly promoted Olympic education and sport practice movement through its different platforms such as website, fanpage, Youtube and The Thao va Cuoc Song (Sports and Life) Magazine.

In the education and training works, VOC has organized many highly appreciated activities such as: a workshop on Digital Transformation in Viet Nam’s Olympic Movement; a running event in response to the Olympic Day at IVS High School; courses for professional training, sports management and technical skills for coaches and referees in weightlifting.

Generally, VOC has proved its tireless efforts and strong commitment to developing Vietnamese sports, from amateur sport movements to elite sport arenas, through results achieved in the first six months of the year.

This is a solid foundation for the committee to complete its goals set in the second half of 2025.
