Competing on May 3 (local time), A Tieu was Vietnam’s final athlete to take the platform. In Group A, which featured the eight strongest lifters in the 65kg division, he successfully lifted 128kg, 131kg, and 134kg in the snatch. His best result of 134kg secured third place in the snatch event and earned him a bronze medal.
In the clean and jerk, A Tieu recorded a best lift of 155kg, finishing with a total of 289kg and placing fifth overall. In this weight class, Wang Liqian of China claimed the gold medal with a total of 302kg, while Wan Jinping of China took silver with 297kg.

Earlier in the competition, K’Duong delivered Vietnam’s first medal in the men’s 60kg category. With lifts of 125kg in the snatch and 157kg in the clean and jerk, he achieved a total of 282kg to secure third place and a bronze medal overall. In addition to the total bronze, K’Duong also earned two more bronze medals in the individual snatch and clean and jerk events.
At this year’s championships, Vietnam fielded three lifters in the men’s 60kg, men’s 65kg, and women’s 53kg categories. Overall, the team secured one bronze medal in total results and four bronze medals across individual lifts.
The championships run through May 8. Following the event, Vietnam’s coaching staff will review performances and adjust training plans in preparation for upcoming international competitions, aiming to further improve results at youth level and build depth for the national team.
