Vietnam wins two silvers and one bronze at the 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Prix

Vietnamese Para Athletics Team delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 World Para Athletics Grand Prix held in Tunis, Tunisia, securing two silver medals and one bronze medal. In addition, four Vietnamese athletes achieved the qualification standards for the 2026 Asian Para Games.

The competition took place from June 11 to 20 and was organized by the World Para Athletics Federation as a qualifying event for the Asian Para Games, which will be held in Japan this October.

Nguyen Thi Hai claimed two silver medals: one in the women's F57 shot put with a throw of 8.74m and another in the women's F57 discus throw, where she recorded 25.98m. Both of her performances met the qualification standards for upcoming Asian-level competitions.

Meanwhile, Tran Van Nguyen added to the tally by securing a bronze medal in the men's F40 javelin throw with a mark of 23.76m

Other Vietnamese athletes also achieved qualifying marks for the Asian Para Games, including Nguyen Viet Dai in the F34 shot put with a throw of 7.76 meters, Nguyen Ngoc Hiep in the T11 long jump with a leap of 5.11 meters, and Tran Thi Thuy Hang in the F44 shot put with a distance of 7.55 meters.

With a total of two silver medals, one bronze medal, and four athletes qualifying for the Asian Para Games, Vietnam’s Para Athletics Team concluded the tournament on a positive note. The results reflect the steady progress of Vietnamese para athletics on the international stage and provide a strong foundation for the team’s preparations for the 2026 Asian Para Games in Japan.
