Vietnam wins 2nd gold medal at the 2026 Asian Beach Games

Continuing their impressive run at the Asian Beach Games, Vietnamese athletics team secured another gold medal on April 25 in Sanya, China, bringing their total athletics golds at the Games to two.

The medal was won by Pham Van Nghia in the men’s long jump event. Facing strong competition from 12 athletes representing Chinese Taipei, Sri Lanka, Oman and host nation China, Nghia delivered a composed and consistent performance to claim the top podium finish.

Through 6 jumps, Pham Van Nghia achieved the best result of 7m44. The achievement helped Pham Van Nghia surpass to hold the No. 1 position to receive the gold medal.

In the men's long jump event, the runner-up belonged to athlete Tao Yege (China, record: 7m41) and the third place was Miranda Jayathra Sampath (Sri Lanka, 7m37).

This is the first time Pham Van Nghia has participated in the Asian Beach Games. Pham Van Nghia's result is also the 2nd gold medal of the Vietnam Athletics Team in particular at this Games.

This gold medal further strengthens Vietnam athletics’ position at ABG6 and provides strong momentum for the national delegation in the remaining days of competition.
