Thuy Trang breaks into world top 80 in women’s 25m sport pistol

According to the rankings announced in early March 2026, Nguyen Thuy Trang moved up to 78th place in the world in the women’s 25m sport pistol event.

Trang’s improvement comes after her impressive performance at the 2026 Asian Rifle and Pistol Championships held in India in mid-February. At the tournament, the Vietnamese shooter delivered an outstanding display to win the gold medal in the women’s 25m sport pistol event. The result helped her earn valuable ranking points and significantly improve her position on the ISSF world rankings.

In the same event, Vietnamese shooter Trinh Thu Vinh continues to maintain a strong standing, currently ranked 19th in the world. Meanwhile, Korea’s Yang Jiin remains the world No.1 in the women’s 25m sport pistol category.

In the women’s 10m air pistol event, Trinh Thu Vinh is ranked 24th in the world, while Nguyen Thuy Trang currently stands at 101st. At the 2026 Asian Rifle and Pistol Championships, neither of the Vietnamese shooters won an individual medal in this event. However, the Vietnamese shooting team still secured a silver medal in the team competition.

According to the latest ISSF rankings, Le Thi Mong Tuyen is ranked 102nd in the world in the women’s 10m air rifle event. The Ho Chi Minh City shooter also competed at the 2026 Asian Rifle and Pistol Championships, gaining valuable experience and additional ranking points.

The steady improvement of Vietnam’s young shooters in the world rankings reflects positive progress as the national shooting team continues to build its strength for upcoming major international competitions.
