Vietnam wons first gold medal at the 2025 ASEAN School Games (ASG)

On the morning of November 23, young athlete Trieu Thi Binh has won the first gold medal for Vietnam at the 2025 ASEAN School Games (ASG) currently taking place in Brunei.

Competing in the women's 3,000-m race in athletics, Trieu Thi Binh clocked 10’13”22, setting a new record for the run at the Games. Last year, Trieu Thi Binh competed in the 2024 ASEAN School Games, earning a bronze medal in the same race with a time of 11’19”76.

The 2025 ASEAN School Games, held in Brunei from November 20 to 28, bring together over 1,000 athletes from student sports delegations across Southeast Asia. Participants are competing in eight sports: badminton, basketball, athletics, swimming, volleyball, pencak silat, sepak takraw, and wushu. The Games feature a total of 106 medal events across all sports.

Last year, the Games took place in Da Nang, where the Vietnamese student sports delegation finished first overall, winning 44 gold medals, a followed by Indonesia with 22 gold medals and Thailand with 18.gold medals.
