Vietnam wins 24 gold medals at the 2025 World Vovinam Championship

At the conclusion of the 2025 World Vovinam Championship, the Vietnamese Vovinam Team claimed the top position overall, winning a total of 24 gold medals and 1 silver medal.

Specifically, Vietnamese athletes wons 14 gold medals and 1 silver medal in the artistic performance categories, while in the combat weight divisions, Vietnam wons 10 gold medals. The combat weight divisions gold medalists included Pham Thi Kieu Giang, Le Thi Hien, Thi Lai, Ma Thi Hong Nhung, Ho An Linh, Nguyen Huu Toan, Ly Chanh Dai, Nguyen Manh Cuong, Nguyen Quang Trieu, and Tran Thanh Vy.

This year’s championship drew over 600 athletes from 26 countries and territories spanning four continents: Asia, Europe, Africa and Oceania. They fiercely contested 45 sets of medals across both artistic performance categories and combat weight divisions.

On the overall medal table, Algeria finished second with 9 golds, 10 silvers, and 5 bronzes, while Cambodia ranked third with 7 golds, 11 silvers, and 5 bronzes.

This event is considered the pinnacle of competition, demonstrating technique, martial spirit and the aspiration to bring Vovinam closer to the Olympic dream.

This is the most important playground for the world's top martial artists to demonstrate their talent, technique and martial spirit. For national teams, especially the Vietnamese Vovinam team, the tournament is an opportunity to affirm their leading position, after the successes in national tournaments in 2025.

As planned, the 9th World Vovinam Championship will be held in Algeria in 2027.
