The final of the 2,000m steeplechase gathered 15 of Asia’s best young runners.
During the first 1,000 meters, Tuan Tu maintained a stable position in the chasing group. In the final 1,000 meters, with confidence and well-preserved stamina, he stayed among the leading runners. The most impressive moment came in the last 400 meters, when, from fourth place, Tuan Tu produced a powerful sprint finish to cross the line as the runner-up.

His final result was 6 minutes 05.74 seconds, behind gold medalist Xu Chengwei (China, 5 minutes 52.99 seconds) and ahead of Mohammad Alidoustishahraki (Iran), who took bronze, by nearly one second.
This is not only Tuan Tu’s first silver medal at a continental-level event but also a remarkable achievement that highlights the growing potential of Vietnam’s young athletics team.
With Tuan Tu’s silver medal, Vietnam’s total medal count rose to four silvers and four bronzes, temporarily placing the country 21st overall in the standings. Among the four silver medals, two came from golf, one from taekwondo, and now one from athletics.
