Le Van Cong finishes fourth at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships

At the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships, held from October 10 to 18 in Egypt, Powerlifter Le Van Cong lifted 176kg in the men’s 49kg weight category, finishing in 4th place overall.

The championships has brought together more than 500 athletes from 70 countries and territories worldwide. They compete in 20 individual weight categories and 3 team classes, seeking tickets to the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics in the United States.

This is a key tournament during the 2024–2028 period organised by World Para Powerlifting under the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). It gathers the best athletes in the world and their performances will be officially calculated points for the 2028 Paralympic qualifying round.

With this result, Le Van Cong has successfully advanced through the first qualifying stage for the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games, continuing his journey to conquer new heights in international para sports and affirming the strong position of Vietnamese para athletes on the global stage.

The Vietnamese Para Powerlifting Team at this year’s championship included Le Van Cong (men’s 49kg category), Nguyen Binh An (men’s 54kg category); Dang Thi Linh Phuong (women’s 50kg category); and Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (women’s 55kg category).
