In the men’s 800m freestyle final, Huy Hoang had to face many strong opponents such as Rawat Kushagra (India), Khiew Hoe Yean (Malaysia), Xu Haibo (China), Sibirtsev Ilya (Uzbekistan) and Tanaka Shun (Japan).
