As of this moment, all preparations for the two meetings are entering the final stretch.
According to a report from the Sports Authority Office, the basic legal procedures have been completed. The decision to establish the Organizing Committee and three specialized subcommittees has been issued along with detailed working regulations. Logistical work is being carried out urgently, the venue has been finalized, and the bidding process is also underway. The office of the Sports Authority is working with transportation providers to finalize the final plan. Along with this, the volunteer force, reception, and financial work are being arranged in a synchronized manner.

Professionally, the international cooperation division of the Sports Authority Office has closely coordinated with the ASEAN Secretariat to agree on the program content. Within the framework of the meetings, several notable activities are expected to take place, including: the signing of agreements on anti-doping and discussions on ASEAN cooperation projects with Japan and China. At the meetings, some member states will also report on the work they have implemented.
The communication-related tasks are being carried out on schedule.
During the working session, representatives from the International Cooperation division also expressed their desire for closer coordination and further support from the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to best prepare for welcoming delegates and implementing some cross-cutting content throughout the event.
Regarding communication work, the Sports Information and Communication Center stated that the assigned tasks are being carried out according to schedule. Two promotional videos for the conference are currently being produced and are expected to be completed by early October. The event identity has also been finalized for approval by the leadership of the Sports Authority. The center has also developed a plan to organize an international press conference, expected to be held in early October, to spread the message about the Conference. For the photo exhibition, the Center will coordinate with relevant units to implement it.
Deputy Director Le Thi Hoang Yen highly appreciated the efforts of individuals and teams who actively implemented their assigned tasks toward the common goal of successfully organizing the event and leaving a positive impression on the attending delegates. Deputy Director Le Thi Hoang Yen also emphasized the necessity of strengthening coordination between units to accelerate progress and ensure all tasks are completed on time.

This ASEAN Sports Ministers' Meeting is not only an important diplomatic event but also an opportunity to affirm the role of sports in promoting sustainable development. This was also the direction emphasized by Deputy Director Le Thi Hoang Yen at the working session.
In 2025, Vietnam will host the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8) and the 16th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Sports (SOMS 16). In which, SOMS 16 will take place from October 13th to 15th and AMMS 8 will take place from October 15th to 17th.
With the theme: "Navigating Sports ‘Contributing to Sustainable Development," the Meetings will feature key discussions on the content of the ASEAN Action Program on Sports, focusing on the development of professional sports, sports science, sports economics, gender equality in sports, preservation and promotion of traditional sports, establishment of the ASEAN High-Performance Sports Center, sports and health, and sports toward the Millenium Development Goals; building development directions and promoting ASEAN cooperation in the field of sports; and promoting sports and physical education cooperation between ASEAN member states and dialog partners China, Japan, South Korea, and international organizations.
The Meetings expected to be attended by international delegates including: Ministers/Deputy Ministers of Sports or heads of sports agencies from ASEAN member states and Timor Leste (an ASEAN observer country), senior ASEAN officials on sports, and sports representatives from ASEAN countries and Timor Leste; the ASEAN Secretariat; the Ministry leadership and senior officials responsible for sports from Japan and China; and representatives of international organizations and relevant ASEAN dialog partners.
