Vietnam defeat Cambodia 5-0 in ASEAN U16 girls's Championship 2025

Vietnam made a flying start to the ASEAN U16 girls's Championship 2025 with a 5-0 win over Cambodia in Group B.

In the 6th minute, a free kick from Nguyen Thi Linh Chi (No. 9) caused a mistake by Cambodian goalkeeper Sokhim Khann, allowing Vietnam to open the scoring.

In the 40th minute, Nguyen Thi Minh Anh (No. 10) made a powerful run through the middle and fired home to double the lead. Vietnam went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

Despite making several substitutions in the second half, Vietnam continued to dominate. In the 75th minute, substitute Phan Thi Thu Phuong (No. 7) extended the lead to 3-0. Five minutes later, Minh Anh shone again with a dazzling solo run, rounding both defender and goalkeeper to make it 4-0.

In stoppage time, Minh Anh completed her hat-trick with a decisive finish in the 90th minute, sealing a 5-0 victory for Vietnam. This strong start puts the team in a favorable position for the rest of the group stage. Minh Anh’s performance, highlighted by the tournament’s first hat-trick, earned her the Player of the Match award.

Vietnam will face Myanmar in their next Group B match on August 25.
