In the women's 200m individual medley, Mỹ Tiên finished first in her heat with a time of 2min16.96 sec. However, this result was not enough for Mỹ Tiên to rank among the top 15 swimmers with the best times and advance to the semifinals of the World Swimming Championships.

The official website of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) also recognized this milestone for Mỹ Tiên. According to FINA, the time of 2min16.96 sec is her personal best to date in the women's 200m individual medley.
At the 2025 World Swimming Championships, the Vietnamese swimming team is represented by four athletes: Nguyễn Huy Hoàng, Phạm Thanh Bảo, Nguyễn Quang Thuấn, and Võ Thị Mỹ Tiên, under the guidance of coach Gustavo Piza (Brazil).
To qualify for the 2025 World Swimming Championships, Vietnamese athletes had to meet the performance standards set by FINA.
After the 2025 World Swimming Championships, the Vietnamese swimming team will focus on their most important goal of the year: the 33rd SEA Games in December in Thailand.
