2025 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships: Vietnam wins 11 golds

Vietnam’s weightlifting team concluded the 2025 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships with a total of 11 golds, 11 silvers, and 10 bronzes and finishing third overall.

In the junior category, Vietnamese lifters claimed 8 golds, 6 silvers, and 2 bronzes, securing third place, following Kazakhstan and India. In the youth category, the team added 3 golds, 5 silvers, and 8 bronzes to its tally. Overall, Vietnam’s weightlifting team brought home 11 golds, 11 silvers, and 10 bronzes, placing third in the team rankings, behind Kazakhstan and India.

Coach Luu Van Thang of the Vietnamese youth weightlifting team shared: "The competition was fierce this year, with many countries fielding strong young lifters. Our team included promising athletes being prepared for long-term development, and each result provides valuable data for our technical and training assessments,”.

In the men’s competition, K’Duong (60kg, junior division) had a remarkable showing with 2 golds, 1 silver, and even set a new Asian junior record, lifting 120kg in snatch, 162kg in clean & jerk, and a 282kg total.

The 2025 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships attracted over 330 athletes from 25 countries and territories, competing across 20 weight categories in age groups from 17 to 20 years old. The Vietnamese team included 14 members, led by Coach Luu Van Thang.

The championship served not only as an opportunity for Vietnam to assert its position on the international stage, but also as a valuable experience to enhance professional skills and prepare athletes for future competitions at higher levels.
