Actively preparing for the organization of the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports and related meetings in Vietnam

The 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports will be held under the theme: "Sports Orientation Contributing to Sustainable Development," scheduled to take place from October 11-18, 2025, in Hanoi.

To ensure thorough preparation for this important event, on the afternoon of July 11, Deputy Director of the Sports Authority of Vietnam, Lê Thị Hoàng Yến, chaired a working session with the International Cooperation Department and the Office of the Authority to review the implementation and deployment of assigned tasks.

At the working session, Mr. Nguyễn Hải Đường – Deputy Chief of the Office reported on the progress of the event preparation work. Accordingly, as of now, the tasks related to the event preparation, such as welcoming delegations, preparing facilities, and the planned contents and activities to be presented and held within the framework of the Meetings, are being actively implemented by the specialized departments with the highest sense of responsibility. Each dedicated officer proactively coordinates with the relevant units to implement the tasks, ensuring the best progress.

Recognizing and appreciating the planning, adherence, and very effective implementation of work by the International Cooperation Division of the Sports Authority in recent times, Deputy Director, Lê Thị Hoàng Yến affirmed: This is one of the important events aimed at discussing issues including the contents of the ASEAN Action Plan on Sports, focusing on the development of professional sports, sports science, sports economy, gender equality in sports, preservation and promotion of traditional sports, establishment of the ASEAN High-Performance Sports Center, sports and health, sports towards the Millennium Development Goals; developing development directions, promoting ASEAN cooperation in the field of sports, promoting sports cooperation between ASEAN member countries and dialogue partners such as China, Japan, South Korea, and international organizations...

The 8th ASEAN Ministers' Meeting on Sports and related meetings in Vietnam are the highlights of 2025 for the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in general and the Vietnam Sports Administration in particular.

Overview of the working session

In addition, the Security and Health Subcommittee is also responsible for implementing a thorough review and approval process for the delegates attending the Meeting throughout the preparation and organization period; organizing security and health training for the volunteers and liaison officers serving at the Meeting.

In 2025, Vietnam will host the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports and related meetings. It is expected that there will be the participation of 100 international delegates, including: Ministers/Deputy Ministers of Sports or heads of Sports Agencies from ASEAN member countries and Timor Leste (ASEAN observer country), senior ASEAN sports officials along with sports representatives from ASEAN countries and Timor Leste; the ASEAN Secretariat; delegations from Japan and China, senior officials responsible for sports; representatives from international organizations and dialogue partners related to ASEAN. Vietnam will be represented by approximately 100 delegates, with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism presiding over the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports, related meetings, and bilateral meetings during the conference; one Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism will lead the Vietnamese delegation; representatives from relevant agencies of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and invited guests, including leaders from other agencies, ministries, and sectors...

To ensure the event is held safely and effectively, in addition to establishing specialized subcommittees to serve the Meeting, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued Decision No. 2384/QĐ-BTC2025 to establish the Security and Health Subcommittee under the Organizing Committee of the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Sports and related meetings in Vietnam.

The Security and Health Subcommittee under the Organizing Committee of the 8th ASEAN Ministers' Meeting on Sports and related meetings in Vietnam, consisting of 24 members, is chaired by Colonel Nguyễn Huy Khích, Deputy Director of the Internal Political Security Department, Ministry of Public Security. Mr. Vuong Anh Duong, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health, serves as the Deputy Head of the Subcommittee.

The Security and Health Subcommittee is tasked with assisting the Organizing Committee in developing plans to ensure security and health measures at the conference venue, at the accommodation hotel, and for transportation and reception between the airport and the hotel for delegates attending the meetings.
