Regarding this, a representative from the International Cooperation Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) highlighted the importance of the event. Accordingly, the Subcommittee needs to coordinate and supplement additional personnel with experience who have previously participated in serving at international conferences of the industry held in the past. Ensure that the points of contact are assigned to the right people, for the right tasks, maintaining professionalism and leaving a good impression on international friends.
We need to thoroughly review and uphold the sense of responsibility of each member in the Subcommittee. It is necessary to promote and accelerate the progress of the preparations for organizing the Meetings. This is an important international event, not only for the field of sports but also a hallmark of the entire culture, sports, and tourism sector in 2025, so coordinating and sharing experiences among units to successfully organize the event is very necessary. According to Deputy Director Nguyen Hong Minh: The participants of the Meetings include Ministers, the ASEAN Secretary-General, delegations from 11 Southeast Asian countries, delegations from ASEAN partners including China, Japan, and delegations from international organizations. Given the importance of the event, all preparations must ensure respectfulness, thoroughness, frugality, and efficiency, in accordance with diplomatic protocols and international practices. Adding more about the role of the Subcommittee, the Deputy Director stated that: The Subcommittee needs to pay special attention to arranging and organizing dining and accommodation locations for the delegations to ensure convenience during the conference; mobilizing, guiding, and utilizing some volunteers and members of the Subcommittee to serve the Meetings; and coordinating to organize the sessions before and during the Meetings effectively.

The 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports is organized to specify the goals and tasks according to the Project approved by the Government as per Official Dispatch No. 340/VPCP-QHQT of the Government Office, dated January 13, 2025, and Decision No. 1239/QĐ-BVHTTDL dated May 5, 2025, by the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism regarding the establishment of the Organizing Committee for the ASEAN Ministerial Conference on AMMS, SOM.
According to the plan, the conference will take place from October 11-18, 2025, in both in-person and online formats, welcoming approximately 200 domestic and international delegates. The conference will be decentralized and chaired under the management of each specific session. The Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism presided over the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8) and co-chaired related AMMS meetings with ASEAN partners such as the 5th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports + Japan (AMMS + Japan 5) and the 2nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports + China (AMMS + China 2).
The Director of the Vietnam Sports Authority (head of SOMS Vietnam) chaired the 16th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Sports (SOMS 16) and co-chaired related SOMS meetings with ASEAN partners, including the 8th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Sports + Japan (SOMS + Japan 8) and the 4th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Sports + China (SOMS + China 4), which took place just before AMMS 8.
During the days of the Meetings, there are expected to be side activities such as: bilateral meetings (if any); cultural, tourism, and traditional craft village tours and surveys in Hanoi and surrounding areas; signing the ASEAN – WADA Cooperation Agreement; organizing football activities to activate the ASEAN-FIFA Cooperation Agreement; and the ASEAN and partner sports exhibition.
