Actively preparing the organization of the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8) and related meetings in Vietnam

On the morning of May 22, the Organizing Committee for the 8th ASEAN Sports Ministers' Meeting held a meeting to report on the organizational work. Director of the Sports Authority, Nguyễn Danh Hoàng Việt, chaired the meeting. Deputy Director Lê Thị Hoàng Yến, also attended.

The meeting was also attended by representatives from the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism) and representatives from various units under the Sports Authority.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyễn Hải Đường, a representative from the International Cooperation- Office of the Authority, reported to the Director on the contents that have been and are being implemented according to the Plan for organizing the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8) and related conferences in Vietnam.
Accordingly, the International Cooperation has drafted the Proposal, organized meetings to gather opinions from units (June, July, August 2024), and finalized the draft Proposal; coordinated with the International Cooperation Department - Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to gather opinions from relevant agencies to finalize the Proposal for submission to the Prime Minister for approval. Develop a comprehensive budget for organizing the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS8) and related conferences.

On January 13, 2025, the Government Office issued Official Dispatch No. 340/VPCP-QHQT announcing the directive opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn regarding the approval to assign the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) to organize the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS8) and related meetings in 2025 in Vietnam.

Along with that, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 1239/QĐ-BVHTTDL on the establishment of the Organizing Committee for the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8) and related meetings in Vietnam on May 5, 2025; the Organizing Committee issued Decision No. 1391/QĐ-BTC2025 on the establishment of the Sub-Committees for Reception, Finance, and Logistics on May 16, 2025, and Decision No. 1435/QĐ-BTC2025 on the establishment of the Sub-Committees for Content and Communication on May 19, 2025.
In international work, coordinate with the ASEAN Secretariat to present to the Bureau's leadership the determination of the Conference dates from October 11-18, 2025, including SOMS 16 and AMMS 8; provide feedback on documents related to ASEAN-FIFA; ASEAN-WADA at the SOMS level; organize ASEAN events with Japan in Vietnam and participate in ASEAN events in other countries.
Currently, the unit is continuing to implement tasks such as: submitting personnel additions to the Conference Organizing Committee (COC) and its subcommittees; organizing a plenary session of the COC to initiate preparation work and assign tasks to COC members; and submitting a detailed plan for preparation, organization, and operational regulations of the COC.

Assign tasks to the members of the Organizing Committee and Subcommittees; implement communication work, press releases, films, video clips... to promote the Conference; carry out procedures related to logistics and reception work: Select transportation providers, accommodation venues, conference rooms, and facilities related to the reception and ceremonial duties of the Conference; Prepare speeches for the leadership levels: Government Representative (if any), Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and SOM Chair.

Establish a liaison group with the ASEAN Secretariat and international guests regarding the organization of SOMS 16 and AMMS 8 to receive information and coordinate the resolution of related tasks. Prepare and finalize the invitation package; Develop the discussion content and the Minister's agenda for the AMMS 8 Conference; work with units on professional and administrative tasks in preparation for the Conference...


The meeting was attended by the relevant units.

Based on the organizational work report, the coordinating units such as the Vietnam Olympic Committee, the Sports Information and Communication Center, etc., all agreed with the report from the International Cooperation Division - the Sports Authority.
On the part of the International Cooperation Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism believes that the 8th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Sports (AMMS 8) and related conferences in Vietnam will be the highlight of 2025 for the Ministry. During the course of the Conference, there will be bilateral meetings. The International Cooperation Department hopes that the Sports Authority will coordinate to support the ceremonial and reception tasks; and enhance cooperation with media units to promote and disseminate more in-depth and widespread information about the event.

Concluding the meeting, Director Nguyễn Danh Hoàng Việt, emphasized: the plan must be completed, but it needs to be detailed down to each Subcommittee. In addition, it is necessary to quickly develop a roadmap for implementing tasks, and once the overall program is ready, report it to the Ministry's leadership. The work of each department must be proactive, and during the implementation process, if there are any obstacles, they need to actively communicate further....

The Director also noted that in upcoming meetings, representatives from the Tourism Department should be invited to participate in order to coordinate and integrate tourism activities, events, and destinations into the program content for promotion.
Speaking about communication work, the Director stated: assign the Sports Information and Communication Center to collaborate with the Exhibition Center and the National Tourism Bureau to include additional side activities for the Conference. Propose content to the Press Department and the Radio and Television Department to invite media agencies to participate in the coverage.
