Vietnamese wrestling wins 24 golds at 2025 Southeast Asian Wrestling Championship

The Vietnamese wrestling team has just concluded the 2025 Southeast Asian Wrestling Championship in Singapore with an impressive performance, claiming 24 golds and topping the overall team rankings.

At this year’s championship, the Vietnamese wrestling team participated with a 30-member squad (15 male and 15 female athletes).

Among the athletes competing at the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship, many promising young wrestlers from the Vietnam team were selected by the coaching staff to compete in the U17 age group, providing them with valuable experience and preparation for future goals. Notable young names include Hoài Thu, Thảo Thơm, Hồng Hạnh, Kiều Trang, Vũ Thị Thảo, Gia Huy, Mạnh Đạt, Đình Hiếu, Chí Hào, Hải Anh, and Bảo Nam, many of whom claimed top spots in their respective weight classes.

A highlight of the tournament for Vietnam was the outstanding performance of three sisters from the same family — Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Linh (women’s 53kg), Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Trang (women’s 57kg), and Nguyễn Thị Mỹ Hạnh (women’s 62kg) — who all competed and won gold medals. Their success is a point of pride not only for their family but also for the national team, as they are among Vietnam Wrestling's most promising athletes.

Mr. Tạ Đình Đức, Head of Wrestling at the Vietnam Sports Administration and Secretary General of the Vietnam Wrestling Federation, stated: “The results from this year’s championship clearly show that many young athletes have proven their capabilities, talents, and potential. They’ve received strong praise from the coaching staff and experts, as all participating athletes were carefully selected through training and evaluations. These young wrestlers have a real chance to make breakthroughs if given more opportunities to compete internationally.”
