Vietnam wins 4 golds at the world wushu sanda cup

On the evening of April 9, the Vietnamese wushu team entered the final day of competition with three matches in the finals. In the women’s 60kg category, fighter Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy secured a 2-0 victory over Semiromi (Iran) to win the gold medal.

In the men’s 60kg category, athlete Nguyen Manh Cuong competed against Yu Hong Leung of Hong Kong (China). Despite his efforts, he was outperformed and lost 0-2, earning a silver medal.

The final match for Vietnam featured Huynh Do Dat against Yat Lam Cheung of Hong Kong (China) in the 70kg weight class. Vietnam’s world champion dominated the match and won 2-0, adding another gold medal to the tally.

Earlier in the tournament, Vietnam had already won two gold medals: In the women’s 48kg final, Nguyen Thi Lan defeated Chhavi Chhavi (India); in the men’s 52kg final, Đinh Van Tam beat Anuj (India).

Overall, Vietnam earned 4 golds and 2 silvers, finished second in the overall standings, just behind host nation China.

Looking ahead, in July 2025, the Vietnamese Wushu team will continue to compete at the 2025 Asian Wushu Cup, which includes both taolu (performance routines) and sanda (sparring) events.
