Vietnamese Badminton Makes History in Men's Doubles at Ciputra Hanoi - Vietnam International Challenge 2025

On the evening of March 30, at Tay Ho Stadium, Hanoi, a men's doubles match took place between two pairs of Vietnamese athletes and Japan.

The men's pair ranked 139th in the world by host Vietnam, Nguyen Dinh Hoang/Tran Dinh Manh, showed great efforts to overcome the pair of athletes Kazuki Shibata and Naoki Yamada from Japan.

Kazuki Shibata and Naoki Yamada are ranked 80th and the 4th seeds of the tournament, Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh had to compete with great determination.

In the first set, with the home field advantage, Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh played excellently, winning 21-19. In the second set, the Japanese pair showed their class by winning 21-15, dragging the match into the decisive third set. However, the Vietnamese representative was surprised when they took an unbelievable lead of 10-1, creating momentum for a 21-15 victory.

Thus, after 3 sets, the men's pair Tran Dinh Manh and Nguyen Dinh Hoang won 21-19, 15-21, 21-15, winning the only championship for Vietnam at the Ciputra Hanoi - Vietnam International Challenge Badminton Tournament in 2025.

Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh have gone through a convincing journey to step onto the podium of glory. That was the effort to overcome the No. 3 seed Aizawa - Sano in (Japan) in the round of 32. Then, they continued to beat Hung Keui Chun - Law Cheuk Him (Hong Kong), Thanawin Madee - Wachirawit Sothon (Thailand) and Muh Putra Erwiansyah - Daniel Edgar Marvino (Indonesia) to reach the final. This is the first time Tran Dinh Manh and Nguyen Dinh Hoang have won the title in the international arena,

Nguyen Dinh Hoang and Tran Dinh Manh have helped Vietnamese Badminton make history when they won the men's doubles championship for the first time at an International Challenge tournament under the Badminton World Federation (BWF) system. With the championship achievement, Tran Dinh Manh and Nguyen Dinh Hoang received a bonus of 1,400 USD from the Organizing Committee and 100 million VND in bonus from a domestic sports company.

The Ciputra Hanoi - Vietnam International Challenge 2025 badminton tournament took place from March 25-30 at Tay Ho Stadium, Hanoi, gathering 314 athletes from 20 countries and territories. Among them are many countries with strong badminton development such as Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia... The tournament was a great success with dramatic matches and many surprising results for viewers.
