Nguyen Thuy Linh finishes in second place at the 2025 German Open Badminton Championship

Nguyen Thuy Linh claimed the runner-up position at the 2025 German Open Badminton Championship. On the evening of March 2, Nguyen Thuy Linh played in the final of the 2025 German Open against world No. 13, Yeo Jia Min from Singapore.

The Vietnamese player was constantly chasing her opponent during the match. Against a well-moving adversary, Thuy Linh strategically attacked the left corner, forcing Yeo Jia Min to defend with her back turned.

However, Thuy Linh's shots were not challenging enough for the tournament's top seed. The first set ended with a 21-16 victory for Yeo Jia Min.

In the second set, Yeo Jia Min maintained her lead but faced intense pressure from Thuy Linh. The player from Phu Tho increased her attacking intensity, even smashing the shuttlecock at high speeds in the latter half of the set.

Still, her opponent was an elite player. Yeo Jia Min showcased her versatile skills, from finishing points to controlling the shuttle. Additionally, Thuy Linh's energy depletion caused her to fall short against her opponent in the remaining part of the match.

With better speed, the Singaporean player won 21-16 in the second set, ultimately defeating Thuy Linh 2-0.

With this result, Thuy Linh finished as the runner-up at the German Open for the second consecutive time. The prize for the Vietnamese player is 9,120 USD (approximately 230 million VND) along with 5,950 ranking points.

Despite some regrets, this result will certainly help Nguyen Thuy Linh improve her position in the BWF (Badminton World Federation) rankings.
