Nguyen Thuy Linh advances to quarterfinals of 2025 German Badminton Open

Continuing to display impressive form, Vietnam's top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2025 German Badminton Open after a convincing win against Indian opponent Kashyap Aakarshi.

In the women's singles round of 16 held on the night of February 27, Nguyen Thuy Linh (ranked 29th in the world) faced Kashyap Aakarshi (ranked 48th in the world). With her solid playing style and excellent shuttle control, Thuy Linh quickly dominated her opponent from the beginning of the match.

In the first game, the Vietnamese player maintained an active position and continuously led the score. Although Kashyap Aakarshi managed to reduce the gap to just two points (10-12) at one point, Nguyen Thuy Linh kept her composure and did not allow her opponent any chances to turn the game around. She closed the game with a 21-14 victory.

In the second game, Kashyap Aakarshi tried to change her strategy to create a more balanced match. However, Nguyen Thuy Linh maintained a varied playstyle and capitalized on scoring opportunities. The Vietnamese player quickly gained a safe lead (17-10) and finished the match with a 21-17 win, securing her place in the quarterfinals.

Having defeated her Indian opponent, Nguyen Thuy Linh will face Tasnim Mir (ranked 72nd in the world) in the quarterfinals. Tasnim Mir had previously held the world number one position at the youth level and is considered one of India's promising young players. This is expected to be a tough match, but with her stable form and international competition experience, Nguyen Thuy Linh has a good chance to advance further in the tournament.

The 2025 German Badminton Open is part of the BWF World Tour Super 300 series, with a total prize pool of $240,000 USD. Nguyen Thuy Linh is the current runner-up in the women's singles event and is seeded 6th in this year's competition.
