Regarding the membership obligations, the Subcommittee sent representatives to join a UNESCO’s expert group to provide professional knowledge to contribute to the development of the convention. The convention was a valid international treaty that had strong influence, focusing on protecting integrity in sport as required by the UNESCO.
Anti-doping educational activities were widely deployed in many localities with a variety of forms. As result, more than 600 athletes, 150 coaches and medical staff participated in training sessions on anti-doping at national sports training centers in 2024. The updated regulations contributed to raising awareness about anti-doping among sportspeople.
At the same time, knowledge and regulations on anti-doping were given to 300 athletes, 100 coaches, 100 referees of three national federations including the Viet Nam Weightlifting and Bodybuilding Federation, Viet Nam Aquatic Sports Association and Viet Nam Boxing Federation.

Anti-doping outreach was constantly conducted at many tournaments.
In 2024, the anti-doping educational activities were implemented in 21 national competitions of wrestling, swimming, finswimming, shuttlecock kicking, judo, wushu, jujitsu, kurash, bodybuilding, volleyball, sepak takraw, shooting, taekwondo, weightlifting, and different tournaments for athletes with disabilities such as badminton, table tennis, powerlifting and tennis.
Further, messages about doping prevention and control were also widely spread through different means such as articles, images and videos which lured interest and attention from athletes, coaches and a large audience.
In order to effectively implement anti-doping education work, training programmes for collaborators were also promoted. In 2024, 16 collaborators took part in a four-day training course on anti-doping regulations and knowledge. They also sharpened their skills of guiding and instructing anti-doping measures, policies, rules and regulations.
They then took charge of classes to deliver necessary knowledge to coaches and athletes of the Sports Universities of Bac Ninh’s Training Centre and implemented their job at the National Judo Clubs Championships in Bac Ninh Province.
The collaborators, who were lecturers of sports universities and colleges, delivered anti-doping knowledge to seven classes of professional sports officials.
It was expected that sports universities and colleges would include the anti-doping in sports as one subject in their curriculum and coordinate with relevant units to organize certificated training courses on anti-doping education for coaches and athletes who meet competition conditions and requirements of international sports federations.
The Center for Doping and Sports Medicine signed a cooperation agreement with the Foreign Trade University to establish a team of volunteers working on anti-doping education and prevention.
During the year, doping control activities before and after competitions were seriously implemented. The center took samples for out-of-competition doping testing for athletes in the Registered Testing Pool (RTP), Testing Pool (TP), and athletes participating in the 2024 Olympic/Paralympic Games.
It also took 74 urine samples, 9 ABP blood samples and 2 blood samples GH as required by the Athlete Passport Management Units (APMU) in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang and Hai Phong cities and Can Tho, Binh Thuan and Bac Ninh provinces.
The center also helped take samples for out-of-competition doping testing according to the requirements of the International Paralympic Committee (3 samples) and the Badminton World Federation (1 urine sample and 1 GH blood sample).
Domestically, doping testing samples were taken in a range of competitions such as the National Weightlifting Championships, National Swimming Championships, National Bodybuilding Championships and National Athletics Championships.
Internationally, the process was also conducted at the Asian Taekwondo Championship in Da Nang; World Teqball Championship in Quy Nhon, Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open Badminton Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City and World Teqball Championship in Ho Chi Minh City.
International cooperation on anti-doping prevention and control was one of the important issues promoted by the Subcommittee in 2024.
The Subcommittee strongly expanded its partnerships by attending important conferences, seminars and events such as an anti-doping conference of the Korea Anti-Doping Agency; a workshop on anti-doping in China; an annual International Anti-Doping Seminar in Asia and Oceania; the 19th Asia/Oceania Region Intergovernmental Ministerial Meeting on Anti-Doping in Sport in Uzbekistan in May, 2024.
Viet Nam also maintained and promoted cooperative relationships with potential partners such as the China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) according to the cooperation agreement with CHINADA for the period 2023 - 2025.
Vietnamese officials regularly attended online courses (webinars) organized by WADA and SEARADO such as Result Management course in July 2024 and a course for International Doping Control Officer Training Programme by the International Testing Agency in February, 2024.
The highlights in the Viet Nam’s effective implementation of the 2024 Convention Against Doping in Sport included the issuance of Circular No. 01/2024/TT-BVHTTDL dated May 17, 2024 regulating doping prevention and control in sports. The issued circular helped effectively carry out tasks and clarify the responsibilities of relevant parties.
