Vietnam wins 37 golds, top spot at the Vietnam 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships

The Vietnam Public Security Sports Association won the top position at the Vietnam 2024 Asian Open Police Taekwondo Championships with 37 golds, 36 silvers, and 33 bronzes.

Indonesia finished in second place with 7 golds, 6 silvers, and 4 bronzes, while Cambodia took third place with 4 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze.

In addition, the organizers awarded medals in the expanded civilian category, with the top three positions going to taekwondo teams from South Korean universities: JeongJeom University in first place, Shinhan University in second, and Daekyung University in third.

Over 2,000 officials, coaches, and athletes from 29 delegations participated in this year’s event. The athletes competed in two main categories: the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Championship (which included sparring, forms, breaking, and team competitions for both men and women across various age groups and weight classes) and the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Festival (which featured sparring, forms (A/B), breaking, free forms, taekwondo gymnastics, and full team events).

A total of 16 sparring weight classes were held, all of which are part of the Olympic events, as well as 5 forms and 5 breaking events, including self-defense skills, attacking, and martial arts demonstrations.

The event celebrates the 80th anniversary of the traditional day of the Vietnam People's Public Security force (August 19, 1945 - 2025) and the 20th anniversary of All-People National Security Safeguarding Day.
