The Vietnam table tennis team reached 4 finals in various events: men’s singles (Nguyen Anh Tu), women’s singles (Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh), men’s doubles (Nguyen Đuc Tuan/Đoàn Ba Tuan Anh), and women’s doubles (Mai Hoàng My Trang/Nguyen Thi Nga). However, only player Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh had the full joy of winning the championship.
In the final, the defending women’s singles champion from Vietnam, Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh, convincingly defeated Tee Ai Xin from Malaysia with a 4-0 score. Three Malaysian players reached the semifinals, but Dieu Khanh successfully overcame each opponent to claim the gold medal.
In the men’s singles event, Nguyen Anh Tu lost 3-4 to Choong Javen from Malaysia in the final, earning the silver medal. Mai Hoang My Trang and Nguyen Thi Nga also finished as runners-up in the women’s doubles final, losing to Karen and Xin from Malaysia, which earned them a silver medal as well. In the men’s doubles final, Nguyen Đuc Tuan and Đoan Ba Tuan Anh were defeated by Javen and Qishen from Malaysia, securing second place.
The 2024 Southeast Asia Table Tennis Championship attracted top teams from the region, including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
At the conclusion of the 2024 Southeast Asia Table Tennis Championship in Thailand, the Vietnam team earned 1 gold medal (Nguyen Khoa Dieu Khanh), 3 silver medals (Nguyen Đuc Tuan/Đoan Ba Tuan Anh; Nguyen Thị Nga/Mai Hoang My Trang; Nguyen Anh Tu), and 2 bronze medals (Nguyen Đuc Tuan, Đinh Anh Hoang).
