Vietnam defeats Indonesia 5-0 in the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship

The Vietnam Women's Futsal team easily defeated Indonesia 5-0 to reclaim the top spot in the standings of the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship.

Nguyen Phuong Anh, Bui Thi Trang (with a brace), Bien Thi Hang, and Le Thi Thanh Ngan scored the goals that secured the victory for coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang's team.

Vietnam now has 6 points from two group-stage matches, moving closer to securing a spot in the final to compete for the championship title at the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship.

Earlier, in their opening match, Vietnam also defeated Myanmar 5-2. This result puts the Vietnam Women's Futsal team on 6 points, the same as Thailand, with both teams having a goal difference of +8. Vietnam has taken the top spot due to scoring more goals than Thailand.

In the standings, Myanmar and the Philippines each have 1 point, while Indonesia is at the bottom with no points.

In the next round (November 19), Vietnam will face hosts the Philippines, while Thailand will play Myanmar.

The 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship features 5 teams: Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, and host country the Philippines. The teams will compete in a round-robin format for ranking points. The top two teams from the group stage will advance to the final, while the third and fourth-placed teams will play in a third-place playoff.

This means that both Vietnam and Thailand are likely to secure spots in the final of the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship to contest the title. The two teams will face each other in the final group-stage match on November 20.
