Asian Youth Chess Championship 2024: Dau Khuong Duy and Luong Hoang Tu Linh Win Silvers in Blitz Chess

The Vietnamese chess team has concluded its campaign at the Asian Youth Chess Championship 2024 with two silvers in the men's and women's blitz categories.

The 2024 Asian Youth Chess Championship, organized by the Asian Chess Federation, attracted 14 teams from the region and beyond. The Vietnamese team was represented by two players: Dau Khuong Duy and Luong Hoang Tu Linh. Competitors participated in events for both men and women across rapid, blitz, and standard formats for the U16 and U18 age groups.

In the men's standard individual event, Dau Khuong Duy competed in the U16 category and scored a total of 6 points after 9 rounds, finishing in seventh place. Meanwhile, in the women's category, Luong Hoang Tu Linh garnered 4.5 points after 9 rounds of the standard format, ending up in ninth place overall.

In the blitz event, after 9 rounds, Dau Khuong Duy accumulated a total of 7.5 points, securing second place and a silver. In this event, he only lost one game to the international master Uskov Artem, winning 7 games and drawing 1. In the rapid chess event, Khuong Duy completed his matches with 6.5 points, tying with two other players who finished second and third, but due to tiebreak rules, he placed fourth overall.

In the women’s blitz event, Luong Hoang Tu Linh achieved 7 points after 9 rounds, earning her a silver. In the rapid chess category, Tu Linh finished in seventh place overall.
