In the men's 100m breaststroke SB5 final, Do Thanh Hai and Le Tien Dat competed against rivals from Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, and India. Showcasing impressive form, Do Thanh Hai quickly surged into the lead and maintained his advantage until the touch, clocking 1:33.91 to capture the gold.

Finishing closely behind his teammate, Le Tien Dat completed the race in 1:36.63 to take silver. The bronze medal went to Iran's Ali Rashidabadi with a time of 1:47.78.
This marks the first gold medal for the Vietnam Paralympic Team at the 5th Asian Para Games. The result also reflects a reversal of positions between the two Vietnamese swimmers compared to the 2023 Games in Hangzhou. At that tournament, Le Tien Dat claimed gold with a time of 1:34.04, while Do Thanh Hai took silver in 1:35.11.
Three years later, Do Thanh Hai rose to the top spot while improving upon his previous Games record. Meanwhile, the silver medal at the 5th Asian Para Games reaffirms Le Tien Dat’s enduring competitiveness on the continental stage.
Do Thanh Hai previously won five gold medals and set four records at the 11th ASEAN Para Games in Indonesia. The swimmer has also represented Vietnam at three Paralympic Games: Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024. At the Paris 2024 Paralympics, he reached the final of the men’s 100m breaststroke SB5, finishing fifth with a time of 1:35.61.
For Le Tien Dat, the 5th Asian Para Games marks his fifth appearance at the continental competition. At the Paris 2024 Paralympics, he finished in fourth place.
Prior to these swimming victories, the Vietnam Paralympic Team had earned a silver medal in powerlifting from Le Van Cong and a bronze in athletics from Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thuy. With one gold and one silver secured on October 21, the delegation temporarily climbed to 18th place on the overall medal tally.
