Phung Thi Hue wins gold at 2026 Singapore Open Athletics Championships

On April 15, the Vietnamese athletics team officially began competition at the 2026 Singapore Open Athletics Championships and immediately celebrated a major success as sprinter Phung Thi Hue claimed the gold medal in the women’s 100m event.

On the competition day, the Vietnamese athletics team has Phung Thi Hue and Hoang Du Y participating in the women's 100m event.

Both Vietnamese players passed the qualifying round to participate in the distance final (including 8 people).

In the final competition, Phung Thi Hue unexpectedly took the lead to finish fastest with a time of 11 seconds 77. The result helped her win a gold medal. Tan Elizabeth-An of Singapore finished second with a time of 11 seconds 89, while Vietnam’s Hoang Du Y claimed the bronze medal in 11 seconds 96, completing a successful day for Vietnam’s sprint squad.

The 2026 Singapore Open Athletics Championships will continue through April 17, promising more exciting competitions ahead. Hue’s achievement not only strengthens Vietnam’s standing in regional athletics but also serves as motivation for the team as they aim for bigger goals in 2026.
