In the early hours of May 14 (Vietnam time) at King Abdullah Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam’s U17 national team defeated the UAE 3-2 in their final Group C match, thereby finishing top of the group and officially qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2026. This marks the first time in history that Vietnam’s youth football team has earned a place at the U17 World Cup.

The match unfolded dramatically as U17 Vietnam conceded an early goal against a physically strong and fast-paced opponent. However, the young Vietnamese players remained composed, maintained an organized style of play, and capitalized effectively on their chances. They went on to score three goals, completing a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory.

Under the guidance of head coach Cristiano Roland, U17 Vietnam demonstrated remarkable maturity in both tactical awareness and competitive spirit. Finishing top of Group C was a well-deserved reward for the team’s determination and collective effort.

The victory over the UAE not only secured qualification but also represents a significant milestone for Vietnamese youth football, opening the door to valuable experience on the world’s biggest stage in 2026.
