Vietnam wins nine gold medals at the 2026 Southeast Asian Shooting Championships

The Vietnamese shooting team concluded its campaign at the 2026 Southeast Asian Shooting Championships in Chinese Taipei with an impressive tally of nine golds, twelve silvers, and nine bronzes, securing second place in the overall standings.

On the final day of competition (June 12), Vietnamese shooters competed in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event. The duo of Nguyen Thuy Trang and Pham Quang Huy won a bronze medal with a score of 413.5 points. In the junior category, Tran Thi Xuan Huong and Nguyen Thanh Nhan also claimed bronze with a score of 406.4 points.

Earlier in the tournament, Vietnam achieved strong results in several key events, winning gold medals in the Women’s 25m Sport Pistol Team event, the Women’s 10m Air Pistol Individual and Team events, and the Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team event. These performances helped the team maintain its position among the tournament’s leading nations.

In addition to experienced shooters such as Pham Quang Huy, Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Phi Thanh Thao, Le Thi Mong Tuyen, and Ha Minh Thanh, the championships also highlighted the emergence of several promising young athletes. Notable performances included gold medals won by Le Nguyen Thanh Nhi in the Junior Women’s 10m Air Pistol Individual event; the trio of Le Nguyen Thanh Nhi, Tran Thi Xuan Huong, and Nguyen Ha Anh in the Junior Women’s Team event; Duong Ha My in the Junior Women’s 10m Air Rifle Individual event; and Tran An Tin, Nguyen Tam Quang, and Nguyen Minh Quang in the Junior Men’s 10m Air Rifle Team event.

At the conclusion of the championships, host Chinese Taipei topped the medal table with 12 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Vietnam finished second with 9 golds, 12 silvers, and 9 bronzes, while Indonesia placed third with 7 golds, 9 silvers, and 4 bronzes.

The results reaffirm Vietnam’s position as one of the leading shooting nations in Southeast Asia and underscore the positive development of its young athletes as they prepare for future International competitions.
